Church in Perth Community

currently under maintenance, will resume soon as it is ready to run again

www.churchinperth.com/community

The main reason we are launching this aspect of the site is that as Christians we are totally dedicated to the priority of community as the space in which human beings find and express their true identity. Since God is an eternal community as trinity, and we are in his image, community is the beginning, end and true meaning of all of life.

Some Christians are wary of cyberspace and fear that its use can only cause further distancing between people. As with all aspects of power this is a real danger, but if God has given us dominion in Christ over all of creation then this power must also be able to serve his purposes.

One of the attractions of the Internet from a Christian worldview is that we all meet as equals - it is a level playing field. In a time when many in the church are worried, about control and hierarchy Church InPerth. corn Community provides an opportunity for all of us to express heartfelt opinions and make serious investigations in a climate free from the restrictions of rank, position or privilege. Our Community dimension gives our users an opportunity to contribute to the life of churchinperth.com and not be merely passive onlookers.

Our hope is that as we share together we will all get as sense of what God is saying to our city and be drawn along as a family in his gracious purposes. Only he knows where this adventure will draw us.

In thinking about how to launch ChurchInPerth.corn Community 1 was reminded of my first editorial of the year, titled "Does the Church Have a Future". 1 raised this question in the light of a fifty percent drop of church attendance in the last forty years. Recently 1 heard that fifty percent of Uniting Church attendees would be dead or unable to attend church by 2015, and the figures for Anglicans, Baptists and Catholics were not much different. This is the question that 1 would like us to begin to discuss as a first vital aspect of our journey together: "Does the Church Have a Future".
