About Churchinperth.com

Introduction

With every new wave of development in communication technology, beginning with the printed press and to the relatively recent development in radio and television broadcastings, the Church has been impacted for the better or for the worst. Today the Internet, a technological development that consolidate all previous known technologies in printing, audio and visual, is fast revolutionising society like no other technology has ever done before. Riding on this development is the command of Jesus Christ to His followers to make disciples of all nations (Mt 28.19 "Great Commission") that give rise to the churchinperth.com initiative.

Background

In mid-70s Timothy Tay, while actively involved in Christian outreach as a student at Canterbury University in Christchurch, New Zealand, observed the close correlation between success in soul winning efforts and the extent of unity expressed by various Christian groups within the campus. The greater the unity expressed by the groups working together the more spectacular the results of their joint efforts. In Singapore where Tim had worked and resided before migrating to Australia the same phenomenon was observed between success in evangelism and church unity, this time in a city-state setting. Similarly, when churches in every city working together in unity, be it for a Billy Graham type crusades or making a joint stand on political and social issues, we often witness a synergism of unprecedented scale. The desire to see the city reached for Christ was given a boost through the ministry and friendship of Ed Silvoso, one of the leading evangelists of our times. The Tay family's background in information technology through their qualification and experience in running an IT business provide the support for churchinperth.com.

Churchinperth.com Mission Statement

We believe in God as mentioned in the Bible. We believe that righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ. Rom 16.22-24. God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. The final command Jesus gave: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age". (Mt 28.18-20). Churchinperth.com sets out to assist churches in Perth to carry out the Great Commission in the city of Perth through the Internet.
