FOOD FOR THOUGHTS
délestage = selective power cuts (French)
A familiar occurence in Kinshasa, capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, these days the term also applies to meals cut for many Congolese families - 'Today we eat. Tomorrow we don't'. Congo is a country rich in minerals and vegetation, however, due to decades of civil war and mis-government, Congo is listed last on the 2011 Global Hunger Index.

Western Australia to Focus on Asia-Indian Ocean Rim
WA Premier Colin Barnett speaking at the 2011 Menzies Lecture affirmed the direction WA is heading. "While our origins and early days will always connect us to Britain and Europe, and we are proud of that history, our recent past has been shaped by the Asia-Indian Ocean rim. It is here that our future lies. Today, Western Australians look to their future over the horizon to Asia rather than over the Nullarbor. This is not restricted to business. A Western Australian family is as likely to have a holiday in Bali as on Rottnest Island. We see ourselves as part of Asia."

Happiest Nation on Earth
At least this is how an OECD survey had found. Speak to the majority of Australians and you will probably know that we are far from living in Paradise. Australian youth, in particular, will be quick to point to the numerous facets of society that need urgent fixing. The eldery is increasingly concern of their wellbeing in relation to healthcare, security and basic living needs including accommodation. The gap between the have and have-not is expanding faster than the rest of the world and now made worst by the two-speed economy generated by the mining boom. Businesses are concerned of the continued decline in manufacturing productivity and compeitiveness as the nation become dependent on the resource sectors. The plight of the struggling indigenous Australians will continue to dampen the honour and accolade Australians may enjoy various international arenas.

Was God seeking a 'win-win' happening when he created time and matter centering on mankind? A prevaling philosophy of God is that if God is love He has demonstrate this love through His creation with the ultimate objective of His love being mankind whom He made His children and eventual heirs. Stretching this a bit further it appears that creation is inevitable. Creation is a zero-sum game of an all-loving God. True love cannot exist without expression. This thought contradicts another fundamental nature of God being self-existing and self-sufficient.
God is not seeking for a win-win solution as though He had made a mistake in creation and is now seeking to reconcie the world back to Him through Jesus Christ. God is an eternal winner - yesterday, today and forever. It is in this winning position that in His own will to seek out the lost and make them an integral part His being - winner.

Christmas or Xmas?
Before you write off the use of the abbreviation for Christmas as something unethical and disrespectful of Christ Jesus, think again. The original usage of 'X' is very much Christ-centred as you can imagine. Apart from the symbolic cross it is also the Greek letter, 'chi rho', or the equivalent 'C' in English. <read more>
