About the speaker
Peter (and his wife Kathy) first planted in 1990 with the Anglican Church when they established View Hill Fellowship in Bendigo. Then in 1996 they started Yarra Valley Vineyard Church, the first Vineyard Church in Victoria at Lilydale, Melbourne. Out of Yarra Valley Vineyard Peter and Kathy saw the release of 8 other Vineyard Churches.
They have recently moved to the inner west of Melbourne where they are about to commence another church plant in a very different format to their previous churches. It is Peter's heart to bring together the best of traditional and emerging models of church and to encourage the whole church to respect and learn from one another.

Quotes of the week:
Saying sorry is a necessary part of forgiveness and healing. The parliamentary apology provides the opportunity for a real restoration of relationship and a stronger platform on which practical measures can be taken to assist indigenous Australians.
ACL Managing Director Jim Wallace

On Lighter Notes:

Regardless of one's age, you simply should always plan ahead:
The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had just gotten married -- for the 4th time.
The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.
'He's a funeral director,' she answered.
Interesting, the newsman thought. He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living.
She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20's, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, later on a preacher when in her 60's, and now in her 80's, a funeral director.
The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men with such diverse careers.
She smiled and explained, 'I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go.'

SAMOA: Jesus Country
Western Samoa, which Sue and I visited recently, might just be the most Christian country in the world. Virtually all Western Samoans attend church. What Samoans do thoroughly understand is that Jesus in the culture means cultural contentment. Samoans experience God’s love and protection at a national level. <more>

Mercy Triumphs Over Anger
From Genesis 3:14 until Revelation 22:19, divine judgement is a topic that cannot be avoided in scripture, but characteristically is by the contemporary church. God is speaking about this from a perspective that to us seems contradictory. The true nature of his wrath can only be known through a revelation of his Fatherly gentleness. This topic is of supreme importance, for as this article will demonstrate, human anger is a stumbling block to God’s purposes of renewal..

Now That You're 50
"I used to lecture with a psychiatrist. He was at our home on my 50th birthday and said, 'Now that you're 50, make longer plans.' I said, 'Now I know why you're a psychiatrist, you're nuts.' He said, 'No, when you start making shorter plans, your subconscious is telling you to die.' "
Interview with Fred Smith, ChristianityToday
Adam, Where Are You?
In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve enjoyed the closest communion any created being can expect with the Creator. In spite of this they fell into sin and separated themselves from the Holy God. Nevertheless, God reached out to Adam just like the father in the parable of the Prodigal Son when He called out, ‘Adam, where are you?’
From the moment Adam disobeyed a veil came between God and man. No more would there be the walk and talk in the Garden between God and man. At least not till the coming of God’s Son, Jesus, in the form of a man just like Adam, to restore all that was lost ever since Adam sinned. Jesus Christ atoned for the sin of mankind by offering Himself as the perfect and acceptable sacrifice. The veil that separated the Holy of Holies from the rest of the Temple had now been removed restoring the fellowship between God and man. Everything that had been lost since Adam had now being reclaimed through Jesus Christ.
When God asked ‘Adam, where are you?’ Adam was hiding because He was afraid. Thank God for what Jesus had done on the cross we now do not have to hide from God. We can boldly come before His throne of grace, confident of His unfailing love, confident that there is nothing to be ashamed off and confident that His grace is indeed sufficient for us. Through Jesus Christ we can now gain access to the tree of life whose fruit brings immortality and its leaves bring healing to the nations (Rev 22:2). "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit (1Cor15:45).

At the Movie: RAMBO
If you think people are inherently good, you get rid of the police for 24 hours—see what happens. I could start a war in 30 seconds. But some countries spend 100 years trying to find peace. Just like good manners, peace has to be learned.

Editor: We do not endorse this movie despite its relation to Christian missionary and we object to the excessive violence protrayed in the movie.

What to Expect in 2008
There are some significant re-alignment in world politics and economies which will bring greater rather than lesser divisions in the world. Expect increase tribulation in the world but for the Church it will hold out as the beacon of hope that will shine forth the glory of God brighter than ever before.  <more>
