ELECTION 2010 -Moving Forward to a God-free Australia
July 19, 2010
ChurchInPerth strives to be apolitical to the point that we are not aligned to any political party. However, we have the duty to inform our readers where political direction significantly impact the Church negatively. The Labor party is leading the electorates to belief that the election is more about personality than party politics, not unlike the American presidential campaign, for a simple reason -- Julia Gillard is the first female PM, she has a mind of her own, she is unlike Kevin Rudd whom she disposed and whom the Labor party had found to be a liability if it is going to win this election. PM Gillard had stated that she is an atheist and had warned the Church to stay out of her belief. If this election is about personality then Gillard, if voted-in for a fresh term as PM, will think she had just been given the authority to propagade her belief or unbelief. Come August 21st, Australia may well have a PM, boosted by a Greens-dominated Senate, to make wide ranging legislations that will have ungodly outcomes to the detriment of the nation and the Church.
Many Christians are concerned that someone who does not believe in God may not endorse the Christian traditions of respect for human life, for the sanctity of marriage and the independence of Churches, church schools and church social welfare agencies. While there is no indication that the present Prime Minister will undermine the special privileges that churches enjoy, some wonder what the future will bring.

Can Australia afford another 3 years of “reforms” with absolutely NIL achievement BUT debts and
blunders for our future generations?

Is not our sovereign God in control....nothing happens in this world unless He allows it....I would be more worried if we had a muslim prime minister than one who does't beleive there is a god.

No I don't. I found a different path.
I don't pretend a faith I don't feel and (to) people of faith . . . not to engage in some pretence about mine . . . I'm what I'm. I believe you can be a person of strong principle and value from a variety of perspectives.
Gillard on Loyalty
You may as well ask me am I anticipating a trip to Mars. No, I'm not.
There's more chance of me becoming the full-forward for the Dogs than there is any change in the Labor Party.

Gillard on Handling Unpleasant Issues
I think it will pass, I don’t think that this will be the issue on people’s minds when they vote at the next federal election. It will be long gone by then, but it’s been an uncomfortable week in politics for everybody and it would be much better if this material had not been put in the public domain, particularly in this form.

Tasmanian Greens want PM to focus on Social Issues
Undoubtedly there are many serious environmental and social challenges facing the nation and hopefully Ms Gillard and a refocused National (sic) Labor Party will move swiftly and decisively to address these.
