Reflection and Discussion
1. Have you been told or have you considered, "Leave everything and
go into the ministry"? Why?
Many have been challenged at least once or even
considered going into 'full-time' ministry like been a pastor or a missionary.
Some have already made the move from working in a secular job to bacoming
a full-time pastor. There is a false impression that unless one is in
full time ministry like that of a church pastor one cannot really experience
the anointing from God in its fullness.
One probable cause of this misleading assumption is the apparent lack
of marketplace ministers as models of faith. The over emphasis on one
day in the week for spiritual experience has overshadowed the other days
of the week.
2.
Where do you believe the power God has given to us is to be primarirly
exercised?
The power of God is to be exercised in the Church and also in the Marketplace.
In Luke 10:17 the seventy two disciples Jesus sent to the marketplace
came back with the report of "even the demons obeyed us when we gave
them a command in your name!". Likewise, the appointment of the seven
'deacons' in Acts 6 for ministering withing the church was followed by
the mighty works done through deacons Stephen and Philip when persecuting
hit the Jerusalem church (Acts 8:1).
3.
What is the most you have hoped for in your role s a businessperson (whatever
your profession is)?
"My pastor encourages me to do well in business
so that I can release funds for Christian ministries."
"To do the right things by the Lord in our
business like not cheating on taxes, do an honest day work, to minister
to colleagues where opportunity arises in the workplace."
"However, we now understood that we are to
exercise God's gifts in our workplace, to pray for our bosses workmates
and clients even consider transforming our workplace just as Jesus Christ
would do.
